San Diego Bootblack & Leather Weekend is a three-day leather and bootblack title weekend across Hillcrest bars and clubs: contests, open shine, and socials. 18+.

San Diego Bootblack & Leather Weekend 2026 ran March 13-15, 2026 across Hillcrest and nearby San Diego venues. SDBBL is the San Diego Bootblack and San Diego Leather Pride families together in their 6th generation. The weekend is 18+ and built for people with a healthy interest in leather, kink, and BDSM. No 2027 dates are published yet.
This is not a hotel takeover. Title contests, open shine, and socials move from bar to bar. Saturday contests were at Rich's, 1051 University Ave. Friday was a meet and greet at AWOL Canteena, 1475 University Ave, then open shine at Brass Rail during the GEAR XL party, 3796 Fifth Ave.
Leather contestants run for Mr, Ms, Mx, and Leatherbear. Bootblack is a separate contest. Judges use an Olympic scoring system. Contestants need 75% or better to qualify. Scoring includes interviews, bar wear, hot wear, speech, bawdy baskets, and a captioned video fantasy shown to the Saturday audience.
Optional nights before the core weekend included public interviews at Pride Room (3845 Fifth Ave), Naughty Bingo at Negociant, skate night at Ringers Roller Rink, and a San-Pah pet-play bark social at AWOL. Sunday was volunteer appreciation and titleholder welcome brunch at Rosemary & Thyme Cafe.
