About this space
The Mark by CPI - Nashville's Kink Community Center
CPI is a Tennessee non-profit, membership organization founded in 2005, whose mission is to provide and maintain a self-sustainable, vision-driven, and ever-upgrading interaction space; and to empower the educational programs, support functions, and social opportunities that strengthen the BDSM/Fetish/Kink community of Nashville, Middle Tennessee, and beyond.
Hours & Access
Play parties: Friday and Saturday 8:00 p.m.–2:00 a.m. (Tuesday and Sunday parties, when held, 6:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.) Classes run throughout the week. CPI does not publish its street address; as a private, members-only organization, entry is limited to members and their guests. Newcomers: attend the first-Friday Welcome Munch or third-Friday Fresh Kink Nashville Munch (ages 18–30), or weekly classes—no membership required—to meet members who may sponsor you. Our Facility - The Mark
Our facility -- The Mark -- in South Nashville provides 6000 sqft of social, classroom, and play space, all of which are secure, clean, comfortable, gender-neutral, and ADA accessible... providing a safe space for open-minded people to be themselves among others who understand.
As a private membership organization, nobody may enter The Mark for a CPI member function unless they are a member in good standing or an official guest of such a member.
Our Guiding Principles
Social Equity: We strive to interrupt patterns of oppression, focusing on those manifested in kink-positive and sex-positive contexts, and be responsive to the unique and evolving needs of marginalized kinksters – as defined by marginalized kinksters, themselves.
Sex-Positivity: We affirm and defend consensual sexuality as a human right. We do not judge any consensual expressions of sexuality as inherently immoral or inherently unhealthy, and we critically consider the ways that sex impacts and is impacted by individual trauma and systemic oppression.
Consensuality: We work to foster a culture in which a "No" is valued, a "Yes" is celebrated, and kinksters' decision-making is free of coercion and supported by whole, accurate, accessible information.
Our Commitment to "Safe, Sane, and Consensual"
CPI considers the cornerstone of BDSM activity to be the guiding principles of "Safe, Sane, and Consensual":
• Safe is being knowledgeable about the techniques and safety concerns involved in what you are doing, and acting in accordance with that knowledge.
• Sane is knowing the difference between fantasy and reality, and acting in accordance with that knowledge.
• Consensual is respecting the limits imposed by each participant at all times.
Consent Characteristics
CPI is a consent-based organization and does not condone or tolerate abusive behavior or relationships. Our consent framework includes:
• Consent is choice - voluntary participation without threats, fraud, coercion or deceit
• Consent is informed - all participants must know enough to give informed consent
• Consent is given by adults with sound mind - clearheaded state, not impaired
• Consent is given within limits - not a blank check, must be clear about activities
• Consent is revocable - anyone can revoke consent at any time
• Consent is communication - mutually understood means of communication required
CPI is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, sex-positive, consent-based environment for those adults desiring growth and exploration of the BDSM, fetish, and kink lifestyles, no matter who they are.
